Bible Question: where do Catholics get all the prayers that they pray, hail mary, act of contrition, prayer to saints, etc being a christian can i still pray them, they are not in the bible are they? How about the accention of the blessed Virgin Mary, is that in the bible, where did i come from? is this just different beliefs? |
Bible Answer: mikec, The Act of Contrition prayer, with scripture references. O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee(Psalm 51:4). And I detest all my sins(Jeremiah 4:1), because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell(Psalm 119:39), but most of all for having offended(Psalm 51:4), Who art all good and deserving of all my love(Matthew 10:37; Hebrews 3:3; Rev 5:12). I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace(Acts 15:11) to confess my sins(James 5:16), to do penance(Mt 6:1-18; Luke 6:32-35; 19:7-9) and to amend my life(Acts 3:19). Amen. Emmaus |
