Bible Question: what is the difference of the way Jesus used the word seed in 4:6,7 than the word seeds in 4:8 |
Bible Answer: Hi fwiaskycap, There is no difference. Here is the text for reference: Mar 4:5 And another fell on the stony place where it did not have much earth. And it sprang up at once, due to not having deepness of earth. Mar 4:6 And the sun rising, it was scorched. And through not having root, it was dried out. Mar 4:7 And another fell into the thorn-bushes, and the thorn-bushes grew up and choked it; and it did not yield fruit. Mar 4:8 And another fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, going up and increasing; and one bore thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundredfold. This is from the JP Green Literal Version (LITV). The words "seed" and "seeds" were inserted by the translators. The Greek in each of these verses is the same: "kai allo epesen" - "and another fell" Some translators include the antecedent for clarity "and another 'seed' fell. I hope this helps!
