Bible Question (short): Biblical, cultural or both? |
Question (full): Hi,Doc... Thank you for answering my question and for providing the excellent link! I hope you don't mind if I use this link in my MSN web space. http://spaces.msn.com/members/bjc10/ There is so much confusion out there regarding Christianity! I was riding along at being Fundamental in my beliefs till I came up against fierce opposition from friends and family. I am torn between pleasing those around me and following the biblical Word. For example: Luk 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Luk 14:27 "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. and: Luk 9:61 Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home." Luk 9:62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." I know in my heart that it will take great sacrifice on my part. I am so weak and confused right now, but I belong to Jesus and He will never let me go. So, the question is whether to be Biblical or Cultural or a combination of both. I have heard it said that very few will enter the Kingdom of Heaven and I can see why when they must choose to give up their life for Jesus. Thanks again, Malley |
