NASB | Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, "I am; and you shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 14:62 Jesus said, "I am; and you will [all] see THE SON OF MAN SEATED [with authority] AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER (the Father), and COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN." [Ps 110:1; Dan 7:13] |
Bible Question:
In Mark 14:62 Jesus is speaking directly to the high priest. Jesus says, "...you shall see the sone of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." In other words, Jesus told the high priest that he would see Jesus (the Son of Man) returning in the clouds of heaven. But did he? The priest has died and did not see Jesus returning in the clouds. Nor did anyone else. Is there any defense for this verse? Help Please! Jon |
Bible Answer: No, jonnyr1, Mark 14:62 is not a failed prophecy by any means. Jesus told the high priest that he would yet "see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming" back to earth "with the clouds of heaven." And the high priest most certainly will! Jesus meant that the high priest would yet see Him openly manifested as God. During His First Advent, the glory of His deity was veiled in a human body. But when He comes again in power and great glory, the veil will be removed and everyone will know exactly who He is. The Bible says, "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11). .... Yes, the high priest and the Sanhedrin who accused Jesus of blasphemy and condemned Him to be deserving of death (Mark 14:64), along with everyone else will some day bow their knees and confess that Jesus is Lord. But that "some day" will be too late for salvation. The Bible says, "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2b) --Hank |
