Subject: Politics source? |
Bible Note: Greetings SRN! Of course there were politics in Jesus' time, what I was asking for is the source that says that "Fig Tree" refers to a political group. You are correct about Pilate. He didn't care one way or the other. He was simply trying to keep peace among the Jews so that he didn't get into trouble with Rome. The Jews really couldn't stone Jesus without getting into trouble either from the crowds or from Rome, so they wanted Pilate to do their dirty work for them. However, I have never heard of any political group called the "Fig Tree", nor have I heard of any political group lead by or joined by Jesus. Therefore, I understand Mark 13:28 to be exactly what it says it is: a parable about a fig tree. Just as the young shoots on a fig tree indicate that summer is near, even so, the signs Jesus had just listed will indicate that His return is near. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
