Bible Question: My question is on "loving thy neighbor". In life we are not going to like everyone so how do we learn to love even those we don't particularly like? |
Bible Answer: One sure fire way to at least "like" your enemies is to pray for them. Even people who annoy you. On my way to church this morning, there was a car ahead of me going about 50 miles an hour and I had no way to pass him. I was a little annoyed, to say the least. Then I remembered to pray for him. I asked God to bless him, to give him traveling mercies and to reveal Himself to the man, drawing him close to Him. By the time I finally got to where I could pass him, I could smile and bless him in truth. Now I wish I could remember to do that all the time! Also, if you know what causes that person to be so unlovable it would help. Is it because he/she is craving attention or has a "false front" because of great insecurity? There is usually a reason behind a persons unlovability and if you can look at it that way, you can feel compassion, prayer comes easy and it helps to ease the dislike. Ask for the heart of Jesus who loved all and died so all could come to Him if they choose. This person could be a brother/sister in Christ, if not now, in the future. God bless, Debbie |
