Bible Question:
Peter asked Jesus about the fig tree. Jesus replied that Peter should have faith in God. What does the fig tree symbolize here. Is Peter discounting the obvious, the enormity of the power of god that his words are that powerful ? It also is interesting about Jesus towards the back of the boat..he calmed the seas...and the replies were not of praise but of fear..What is Jesus doing to his disciples here..Is this a continuing saga of testing of loyalty and faith? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Hos 9:10; Nah 3:12; Luk 13:3-9 ... mikedurn, God's day to you. - Israel as an image of the fig tree (Hos 9:10). - Israel as symbol of figs (Nah 3:12). Not all references to the fig tree is about Israel, but many believe His parable in Luke 13:3-9 is. Our Lord continued to test His disciples' faith, as He does ours. Searcher |
