Bible Question:
Romans 2:14-15 Can Gentiles that do not know Christ goto heaven? I have been looking for a commentary or sermon that covers this issue and can find nothing that goes into this. Most of the stuff i find goes around this verse and writes it off as an after thought, so i need an answer for my aethist work mate who believes that if they are a 'Good' person, then they are following the law their heart is leading them... any help would be appreciated. j |
Bible Answer: If you search many of the epistles of Paul, they are clear that NO one is justified by God simply by WORKS. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone. True faith in Jesus Christ, however, will result in good works. Our works will not save us, but our works WILL BE REWARDED. If we could be saved by our "good works" and a "good heart" then why in the world did Jesus have to suffer like He did?? "Without the shedding of blood there is NO remission of sins." (Hebrews 9:22; emphasis mine) Also, look at Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus in Chapter 3 of John. "Unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, He cannot enter the Kingdom of God." (John 3:5) Not only may Gentiles who do not know God not enter heaven, but NO ONE who has not been born of the Holy Spirit and received Jesus Christ as their personal savior may enter. But thanks be to God! "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom 6:23. Blessings to you! |
