Bible Question (short): Jesus and Children as Paedobaptism? |
Question (full): I am confused about something. Here we have Jesus saying do not hinder the children from coming to Him. If I am not mistaken Jesus was referring to more than just children coming to sit on His lap, or get a hug. He seems to be saying, that children, at least in His day, were receiving the kingdom of God, were getting saved? How come then, we now do not permit children to be baptized? Is this why there were "forms of Paedopabtism", practiced by some of the Great Divines, or no that is not why they did it? Is it that children who really, truly exhibit in their own words a true understanding that they are sinners who need repentance is what Jesus meant? And did that later get stretched out of the context He had about children coming into the kingdom as Paedopabtims? Just a worthless son. blessings abound, bowler |
