Bible Note: Makarios Thank you for your answer. There may be many things which people cannot understand about the Bible. It would appear however, the most important issues are made clear, especially in the words of the Lord Jesus himself. In Romans 3:23 "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" would show us that we can never reach to God's standard on our own. That we are separated from God because of our sins. To stop at this point would leave humankind in a hopeless state. In Romans 6:23 I believe God wants us to know that there are consequences for being content to live in our sin. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The gift of God which is given to those who will accept Jesus Christ is eternal life. A free gift of eternal life which was purchased by the Lord Jesus himself on Calvary. Our sins meant the death of the cross for him; whereas, his death for our sins means lives for those who accept it. The "broad road" that Jesus talks about is the road of life which upon each are born. However, the good news is that God in his grace and love has provided a way which allows us to turn from our way downward and enter through the stait gate which is Christ and bring our Christian journey home on the narrow way to life. I believe that these roads are totally separate and that we as individuals are on one or the other. Repentance, is to stop our downward path and turn to Christ who said " I am the door by me if any one enter in he/she shall be saved" Stepping through the door is a step of faith and by his grace and his sacrifice alone we are saved. Thank God for his grace, Robert |
