Bible Question: some translations render the first clause of this verse as 'evil' (as the NAS95 does) and others as 'evil one'. My question is: Did Jesus pray for us to deliver us from evil (sin) or the evil one (satan)??? Help!!! |
Bible Answer: There is debate on this question and nobody really knows for sure. In Greek it is ambiguous, but according to the International Bible commentary it is believed that the personal reading is better, for God uses Satan as the tester. It may well be that the original Aramaic was just as vague. Hope this helps |
