Bible Question: Matthew5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. How this version relate to our everyday life? eg, at home, at school, at church congregational and sunday school? |
Bible Answer: Hi sam84, I've noticed that everyday someone does something that I don't like. All the time people are doing things that aren't right, and that effect me adversely. I could stand up for my rights, demand punishment, and apologies, or just fume and resent them. God teaches us that He, to a certain extent, uses ourselves as the yardstick we'll be measured against. "Judge not, or you'll be judged." "With the measure you use . . ." Or this verse. Also, to the extent that we've become like our God, we will act like Him. So here's my application. I want God to be merciful to me, so I am merciful to others. Anytime someone does something to me, I think of all those things I've done that God could, and should, judge me for, and I show mercy to that other person. And I realize that if I'm truly His child, I'll be like He is, and act like He acts. And when I am merciful to someone else, deciding that I'm not going to be angry, or punishing, or resentful, but rather that I will want them to receive less then what they are due for their wrong behavior, and instead to help them, this tells me that I'm becoming more like my Father, and that I too will receive mercy from Him, and that's a good place to be! I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
