NASB | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on grounds of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery. [Deut 24:1-4; Luke 16:18] |
Bible Question: In Matt 5:32 whoever marries the unlawfully divorced woman (or man) commits adultery. But in 1 Cor 7:15 the unlawfully divorced may marry again. How do we decide which rule to follow when 2 believers are involved, with neither acting in a biblical fashion? for example: one may leave but the other critisized her into leaving. |
Bible Answer: 1Cor 6 dictates that Matthew 18:15-17 should take place FIRST. Most will violate 1Corinthians 6, by going to Law, before UnBelievers! That is Wrong! See Mark 10:11-12, Romans 7:1-3, 1Corinthians 7:10-11 and 39. Then see DeuteronomY 23:31 about Vows to Jesus, espically Wedding Vows! Thank you! |
