Bible Question: In the old Testament PUTTING AWAY was what God hated. Is Jesus refering in this verse to PUTTING AWAY or a written certificate of divorce? Please answer after you have done a word study. There is a huge difference between the two. |
Bible Answer: First of all I'm not disputing what you're saying, but I've searched and can't find a difference between putting away and divorce. God hates divorce, marriage is sacred and eternal, He never intended for couples to seperate except for when one dies. The problem began in back in Moses' time. People got whinney and unhappy in marriage and wanted to be justified in "divorcing" their wives. So Moses said that if someone's spouse became unfaithful, then he could lawfully divorce her. But that was the only lawful excuse for divorce.(see Matt.19:7-9) In His service DWF |
