NASB | Matthew 5:19 "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:19 "So whoever breaks one of the least [important] of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least [important] in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them, he will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. |
Bible Question: Should this be verse seen as confirmation that such people will got to heaven but that they will be ranked lowly. It seems odd that heaven will have different levels of satisfaction and dissatisfaction. |
Bible Answer: Greetings billk! The kingdom of Heaven will be full of joy for all because that is where God is.(Jude 1 :24 - Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,) We will ALL be MORE than satisfied in Heaven! However, recall the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.' v.23 I suspect that we will all have different responsibilities in the Kingdom of God and this is what Matthew 5:19 may be alluding to. Our earthly existence is a "training gound" of sorts for our future with the Lord. Even if it means that I am a but a "janitor for Jesus," better is one day in Your courts, oh Lord, than a thousand elsewhere! Blessing in Him, Mommapbs |
