Bible Note: Proverbs 3 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 1 Corinthians 11 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment. John 16 23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. Joe! My comment "The bible makes clear promises that living a Godly life will lead to long life and health" was overboard. You can make your points without being cynical. I don't subscribe to all the faith teachers, I just caution being quick to judge all of them. Proverbs 3 could provide a different perspective. Suffering for Christ may be necessary, but suffering is not a sign of faith. Sometimes people suffer because of bad things too. In the same way, riches does not indicate faith, but God can bless in many ways. This concludes my participation in this discussion. Thanks. |
