Bible Note: God's day to you, dkp824ny and welcome to the SBF, First, please take the CAPS LOCK off. It is considered yelling and it is hard for these old eyes to read. It appears you believe in baptismal regeneration ... that is one needs to be baptized to be saved. There are ten conversion experiences in Acts -2:38-41 ... the tense in the Greek shows that one is saved before baptism, they are separate events -2:47 ... many daily (no mention of baptism, but we can presume it followed Pentecost). -4:4 ... 5,000 saved (ditto). -8:14-17 ... Samaritans (they experienced water baptism and there was a delay of receiving the Holy Spirit). -8:34-39 ... Ethiopian eunuch (shows that to be baptized, one needs belive ... not that baptism is required). -9:5-19 ... Paul (he was a Christian when Ananias baptized him). -10:44-48 ... Cornelius and his house (they spoke in tongues, then were baptized by water). -16:14-15 ... Lydia and her house (she responded to the word, then was baptized). -16:31-34 ... jailer and his house (verse 31 only says to believe and be saved ... which is seen elsewhere in the NT). -19:5-7 ... about 12 disciples of John (they did speak in tongues, not after they were baptized by water, but when Paul laid his hands on them). There is a debate on the one baptism (Eph 4:5). Read the following posts on the verses you cited: -- Jhn 03:05 113889 ... 7626 (Makarios) -- Mar 16:16 113864 -- 1Pe 03:21 45673-4 ... 113478 (Makarios) This is the first time I have seen Matthew 28:19 used to support Campbelism. Notice the sequence, one is a disciple first, then they are baptized, then they are taught. Others have more excellent posts to refute baptismal regeneration. Searcher |
