Bible Question: What is the difference in teaching someone facts and teaching someone to obey? Matthew 28:20 |
Bible Answer: Hi cecil, If I'm understanding what you're asking it's this: Some can know all the "facts" of the bible. They may even know it from cover to cover- and still be going to hell. However, being obedient to and following the precepts is another thing. The facts should lead one to obedience! As the apostle Paul terms it, "through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake," (Rom. 1:5) Put another way, "facts" don't save anyone, obedience to them leads one to salvation. (Rom. 10:17) The demons know all the facts- they believe there is one God. But, they have not placed their faith (obedience) in Him. (James 2:19) I trust this answer your question, BradK |
