Bible Note: Wow...even when I am gone on hiatus I am not forgotten! "Joe, I ask you, is it more important to fight for your understanding of theology; the bible, or is it more precious to lead others to having faith and following Jesus." Without using the Bible/theology as your source material, please tell me who Jesus is. "Whatever you believe today then you need to follow for you and whatever RevC believes then he will also follow for him, and down the road your understanding may change. You are both were you need to be today." That makes no sense at all. Is a Muslim "where he needs to be"? They believe in "Jesus," too. The Qu'ran speaks about him a great deal. What about Mormons? Are they where they need to be? Their theology has a great deal to say about "Jesus," but sadly it contradicts what the Bible says. Jehovah's Witnesses? They believe in "Jesus" as well, and claim to use the Bible as their only source of truth. The problem with all of these groups (and with Oneness Pentacostalism) is that unless you are believing in Jesus as he truly is, you are not a Christian. Not every Christian agrees on every point of theology, to be sure. But you do reach a point where the Jesus of the Bible doesn't resemble the Jesus of these cultic Oneness groups at all. In order to support Oneness, you have to reject the biblical nature of the Godhead completely. And if you have a horribly skewed view of who Jesus is, how can you possibly put your trust in the genuine article. Incidentally, Oneness Pentecostals believe that works are required to be saved, so it isn't only a question of "faith" in Jesus as he truly is, but also what Jesus has or has not accomplished on behalf of sinners. RevC, if he still persists in his heresy, is not a true follower of Jesus Christ any more than the Mormon or the JW or the Muslim. He is not where he needs to be if he intends on going to heaven. --Joe! |
