Bible Question:
On the way to Emmaus they were talking about him, and a stranger joined them and listened. What were they talking about? "What things"? And they said unto him, "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him". They thought he had been a mighty prophet, and that he was now dead. But they learned, and their hearts burned as they listened. By the end of the day they had corrected some of their thinking, and when they talked again, their talk was different. Their thoughts were different. And I'd like to talk about him, if you would. I've learned some things about him. So have you, I'm sure. You say it and you sing it in your meetings. Let us share our thoughts about him. What do you think about the One who is called Christ? |
Bible Answer: Hi Aixen 7z4, I answered this question in post #101972 and spoke of the Prophet, even the Son of David in regard to Matthew 22:42. You sing about Jesus being your Friend. Cleopas in Luke 24:18 didn't recognize his Friend. Rather, he asked Him if He was the only stranger in Jerusalem, that He did not know about the things which happened. Certainly He knew about the things. Their hearts burned within them as He was explaining the things of the Scriptures. What do I think about the One who is called Christ? "The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming, He/ who is called Christ.; when that One comes, (He) will declare all things to us." See John 4:25 Luke 24:27, "And beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He/ explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures...32 And they said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He was explaining to us on the road, while (He) was explaining the Scriptures to us?" What kind of spiritual bread do we have to partake of and read and study in order to recognize Him as our Friend? We have to continue to study the Scriptures as did the disciples on the road in order to know the Bread of life. From the heart, Ray |
