Subject: What think ye of Christ? |
Bible Note: It is happening again. I read that post again and it moves me again. I can identify with what you say and I feel I must say it. I have just finished a counseling session with young lady who had run away from home. I am even thinking of sharing some ideas with you, uninvited. For example, that young lady told me she was simply looking for a friend. Sadly, she had not been able to find a friend in church. Is it not sad when people cannot find a friend in church? And now I must undertake to help her by long distance, to be a friend and to help her to find a friend. Unbelievable things happen in church, and on Christian forums. We’ve forgotten how to be nice, or it’s not cool, or in, or macho. And I do not want a response to that, but I will get it. What I would prefer is that we focus upon Jesus. He is a friend. He was known as a friend of sinners and I would like to say that I appreciate that he is my friend. How can I help but love him, when he loved me so? Some of my brethren want us to simply discuss the Bible and leave it at that. But I will read a verse and it leads to a song and … I often resort to the cyber hymnal to get all the words. For example, I read Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Something stirs within me. I find the song at http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/a/w/awakemso.htm and I’m singing. Awake, my soul, to joyful lays, And sing thy great Redeemer’s praise; He justly claims a song from me - His lovingkindness, O how free! I understand what you see of him in the story of Hosea. He saw me ruined in the fall, Yet loved me notwithstanding all; He saved me from my lost estate - His lovingkindness, O how great! I feel his presence even in the midst of all kinds of opposition! Though numerous hosts of mighty foes, Though earth and hell my way oppose, He safely leads my soul along - His lovingkindness, O how strong! I’ve go into all kinds of trouble for standing up for him, but When trouble, like a gloomy cloud, Has gathered thick and thundered loud, He near my soul has always stood - His lovingkindness, O how good! The word of God is not dry and intellectual. It is spirit, and it is life. And with it, I will praise him all of my life. Then let me mount and soar away To the bright world of endless day; And sing with raptures and surprise, His lovingkindness in the skies. Lovingkindness, lovingkindness, His lovingkindness in the skies. |
