Bible Question: I have often wondered why Jesus, seeing as how he was hungry, did not command the fig tree to bear it's fruit. I understand the parable and I understand he was showing his disciples a "faith builder" so that they too could have "...faith enough to move mountains", but I just can't figure why he wouldn't have made the tree bear fruit to do so. |
Bible Answer: Since Jesus was hungry, why didn't He COMMAND the fig tree to bear fruit? Matthew 4:1-4 New King James Version Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, COMMAND that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" |
