NASB | Matthew 2:2 "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 2:2 "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him." [Num 24:17; Jer 23:5; Zech 9:9] |
Bible Question:
Did His star disappear for awhile? Note: Did the star disappear for any length of time? Did the star disappear for any length of time? Could this of been the angels (Luke 2:13)? Why didn't others see, or pay attention to the star? |
Bible Answer: Steve- I think it is true that what they first saw was an actual starw signifying the birth of Christ - a new star in the position in the sky that identified royalty born in the Hebrew house. After that, I am sure they had access to the scrolls so knew of the prophesy (weren't the Jews scattered throught the known world at that time?). As far as being led, can any one tell the exact spot a star in the sky is over? I think it must have been either an angel leading them as God sent the fire and cloud to lead the people out of Egypt, or some other phenomenon that God sent to lead them to the Savior. This would also explain why no one else saw the star after they first did. And maybe they were the only ones knowledgeable at that time to notice it in the first place. Amazing how God will show things to people who watch. God bless! Debbie |
