Bible Question:
Is the bible literal in regards to history and creation? Timothy 3:16 depicts the bible as being a source for living or a guide. It doesn't directly or indirectly apply that the bible is literal. With that being said, how do we distibguish metaphors, parables, and symbols? None of these ideas take away from Timothy 3:16. When discusiing creation you are lead to believe that the bible is literal? Where is the proof that the Genesis creation story should be read as such? |
Bible Answer: Greetings journey, You asked how do we distinguish metaphors, parables, and symbols. May I recommend a book by R.C. Sproul "Knowing Scripture". It goes through all the principles of bible interpretation. Throughout the bible all symbols have the same meaning. When applying the principles it helps to give you a much deeper and easier understanding. prayon |
