AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 19:28 Jesus said to them, "I assure you and most solemnly say to you, in the renewal [that is, the Messianic restoration and regeneration of all things] when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you [who have followed Me, becoming My disciples] will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. |

Bible Note: Don't you think it was nice of them to limit the Lord to one of two people, that (they) themselves had picked out? I was under the impression that the Lord would build His church. And on top of all this, when they picked these two, they hadn't been filled with the Holy Spirit yet! You think that it might have been Matthias? Where in the Bible do you hear from him again? The key to the one filling the position, according to Peter, is that the one must have been a witness to the resurrection of Christ and be taught by Him. Paul fills the bill, and can we say that he is never heard from in the Bible? I think not! Peter was always one to jump headlong into things, and sometimes he was wrong. In my estimation the 12th apostle that was called was Paul. CDBJ |
