Bible Answer: Searcher, Matt 16:27 "For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done." I believe that the phrase "reward each person for what he has done" implies a judgment event. Among other reasons, the Transfiguration and the events of Acts 1 and 2 simply came too soon. "... standing here will not taste death" implies that some would taste death, which implies a event further off. The events surrounding the destruction of Jerusalem are a better fit and are in line with Jesus other proclamations regarding that would happen to "this generation" (in the first century). |
