Bible Question: Is this Verse refering to before or after the rapture? |
Bible Answer: Hello Prince Charming, and welcome to the forum. I hope your name was your wife's idea? Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. This particular verse that you referred to is the rapture. Virtually the same verse is discussed in the following. 2 Thes. 1:4-10 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: 6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Notice when it will happen, verse 10, When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe This is talking about what we commonly call the rapture. The word for (coming), as in the coming of the Lord, is the word from the Koine Greek, (PAROUSIA) and it is actually a noun and not a verb; it is not describing an action as a verb would, but is instead describing an event that starts with the rapture and continues through the battle of Armageddon. Just like Christ first coming took 33 years, his second coming involves a period of time for it's compleation. |
