Bible Note: Greetings 6days! Emmaus and I have debated this issue in the past. So, let me say that I disagree with his conclusions on this issue. However, he is not 'without a leg to stand on'. :-) The Scripture on this issue is simply not as clear cut as you have claimed. The simple fact is that the word for 'brother' in Greek can indicate other relationships. It is not impossible for it to mean 'cousin'. I believe that a case can be made that this would not be a 'usual' meaning of the word, but it certainly is a possible meaning. So, the Bible is not as 'clear' on this point as we might like. :-) I say this simply to make this point. Emmaus is a respected, knowledgeable, and courteous member of this forum. While you may not agree with him on every point, you would do well to give ear to what he has to say without simply disregarding him because he happens to be of the Catholic faith.
