Bible Note: Greetings Disciplerami! The fact that 'at the preaching of Jonah' is in the accusative case isn't very significant in this sense, 'eis' is used over 1,700 times and always occurs in the accusative case. :-) Since you deny that 'eis' can ever mean 'because of', how do you handle Mt. 3:11 (KJV): "I indeed baptize you with water unto (eis) repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" Did John baptize people that they might repent, or did he baptize people because they had repented?
