Subject: Jewish "Inclusive Reckoning" practice |
Bible Note: I believe that any part of a day was counted as a whole day. "Jewish Encyclopedia," Vol.4, pg.474, confirms this method of reckoning time. It reads, "circumcision takes place on the eighth day, even though, of the first day only a few minutes remained after the birth of the child, these being counted as one day." I believe that if leaven was not removed, then it was found. In order for leaven not to be found, then it had to be removed. The count would begin once leaven was removed. (NKJV Exodus 12:15) "Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel." I believe that the count of seven days in (Exodus 12:19) would begin once leaven was removed from the house on the first day, (in context - on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread by the letter of the law),at the beginning of the 15th day. So from my perspective, the seven days that no leaven was found in the houses are: 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 - the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread by the letter of the law. The perspective that I provide in the "Twilight Report", shows that the Pharisaic tradition of interpreting (“on” the first day, as “the day preceding” the first day, in Exodus 12:15), (Mekilta 12:15, Pisha 8:38-41), R. Ishmael, R. Jonathon, and R. Jose, first began on the day of Jesus' Crucifixion, and not before.
