Bible Note: Dear Atdcross, I am not offended in the least. Mine is a desire for faithful and correct exposition of the truth that God has provided us. There is a clear call and command to be good stewards of that truth! To that end, God has given us the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, the instruction of the church, one another, and the testimony of saints of the past (Ephesians 4). I anticipated that emphasizing this point would seem irrelevant to you for a variety of reasons. (I've often thought that the search for relevance so highly valued by the world in our day is utterly misplaced. If it has to do with God and His truth, then it is, by definition, relevant.) However, if you will kindly indulge me for the sake of others who are reading and learning, I would be grateful. So, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that (1) the Holy Spirit may have singled you out from all of the saints in the past two millenia to offer you knowledge that He failed to offer or correct in everyone else; and (2) what He has taught all of those Godly, faithful men of the past, although helpful, He is required to manifest to you directly for it to have any effect on your beliefs.
