AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 10:13 "If [the family living in] the house is worthy [welcoming you and your message], give it your [blessing of] peace [that is, a blessing of well-being and prosperity, the favor of God]. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. |
Subject: What does Matthew 10:13 mean? |
Bible Note: What is there in this Bible passage that can be interpreted to mean "he was speaking of discerning by the Holy Spirit if the people in that house would receive their message from God, and if they would not, they would know in their human spirits by the Holy Spirit not to go into the house or to be prepared for whatever was there before them"? It seems that to interpret Matt. 10:13 to mean this, one would have to read into the passage something that is not there. In the entire paragraph, Matt. 10:11-14, there is no mention of the word Spirit. How would we know that "he was speaking of discerning by the Holy Spirit", when there is no mention of the Holy Spirit in this paragraph? I'm not saying this teaching is not found in the Bible. All I'm saying is that I don't see it in the text of Matt. 10:11-14. It simply isn't there. Grace to you, Kalos |
