Bible Question (short): How do we know Isaiah 7:14 was prophecy? |
Question (full): Tim, Thanks for the succinct answer! While I see that knowing about the Septuagint clears up some issues, I have another question: How do we KNOW that the Isaiah prophecy was about the Messiah? When reading the verse from Isaiah in context, it seems to me that Isaiah is only addressing the king Ahaz and his immediate situation. Obviously, Matthew saw it as a prophecy and he was a Hebrew on the scene, so he has to be correct, but I have to admit that I'm a little puzzled. Regards, Huron |
