Bible Question:
I know a person who is trying really hard to do whats right. He keeps going back to things that God doesnt like. He has experienced God and felt for the holy spirit, but still commits sin knowing that its a sin, but still really doesnt want to. Its like there isnt enough willpower. In Mat 13:1-9, Jesus is telling a story about how people receive the gospel differently. Might it be that this person is not in the last group ? And there is simply no hope for him ? Also in Mat 7:13-14 he talks about how few people walk the narrow road. This person even trys to talk about Jesus and admit that he belives in him, even though hes ahsamed of it. but always seems to end up doing things that he deep inside doesnt really want to be doing. So my question really is. Can a person know that he just doesnt have what it takes to be a true christian? But still would really want to ? I appologize if this question doesnt belong here, but i think after reading some of the responses here that there is somone who can answer this. |
Bible Answer: No apology necessary, because you are expressing the very heart of Yeshua in your query... to be focused on one who struggles, to the point of heartache (yours). Can you step beside this person to help mentor them in their walk? Can you initiate a Bible study time just for you two, that will help them understand HOW to be firm and strong in their daily walk? So often believers are convinced they must do the bulk of the work... to be the firm foundation themselves when they are to put their faith in His Faithfulness to accomplish all that He has promised. If you can, be the helping hand to your acquaintance, if that's not possible try to connect them with a person or persons who can be a sincere and committed help. We love our neighbours as ourselves, and in this we can place ourselves in the story of the 'good' samaritan.. see this person as one who is being robbed continually of their JOY. Step in, help them to see where wisdom is, as she calls in the streets (Prov. 1:20 ). There is so much in Scripture that calls to us to strengthen us, and help those around who struggle in their halacha (holy walk). That you care enough to mention this here, indicates you have a heart to see this person strengthened and empowered... ask YHVH for the insight as to how you can help bring that to reality. |
