AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 2:16 "For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong and violence," says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore keep watch on your spirit, so that you do not deal treacherously [with your wife]." |
Subject: leave when violent..? |
Bible Note: Yes, that is an area we disagree. I use verse 11, not ten to say they can leave if they have to, but can't remarry. If this last desparate act gets the spouse to get healed, the marriage is saved. If he remarries or has sex with another, only then is the person free. I do not see the covenant as broken due to violence. Scripture just does not say that. Staying single or being reconciled is a harder row to hoe, but I have done it and advocate it. Greentwiga |
