AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 2:16 "For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong and violence," says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore keep watch on your spirit, so that you do not deal treacherously [with your wife]." |
Bible Question: Both my husband and I have committed adultery. Mine was 8 years ago and 6 years ago, I realised that my husband also has an affairs outside. We repented (he didn't know about mine then) and we moved on. Recently, he said he knew about mine and wanted to divorce me. We have 2 children 10 and 7. What do I do? Should I agree to the divorce? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Waiting99! First of all, Mal. 2:16 tells us that God hates divorce. So, even though divorce was allowed in cases of adultery, it is never commanded. So, neither one of you must divorce. The best you can do is seek some professional help and deal with your marital issues. Unfortunately, this forum is not the place for that kind of help. Seek out your local pastor or a local Christian marriage counselor and do your best to love one another with the same kind of self-sacrificing love that Christ has for us. Those on the forum will certainly keep you and your family in our prayers. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
