Bible Note: Hello Lancelot777, Might I recommend a web site to help in your search? It's www.bible.org. Click on "Studies," and check out New Testament and Theology; or use "Search" on the web site. There is a wealth of information. Second, scripture doesn't say that the wisemen were avoiding the government when searching for the messiah. They just asked around the capital city. Matthew 2:1-2 (ESV) Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, [2] saying, "Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." They DID avoid the government on the way home. Matthew 2:12 (ESV) And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way. Steve |
