Bible Question:
Well, this is my first posting, so please forgive my ignorance *grins* Anyhow, it seems to me that Christ's birth was prophesied 500 years before it happened right? By who? Who told the 3 wise men to look for that star configuration and what it meant? The three wisemen were the government scientists of the time right? Just how much do we know about the man/men who prophesied Christs coming? And what do we know of that prophecy? Thanks eh? Cheers! |
Bible Answer: Hello Lancelot777, The prophet Micah gave the location. The scribes of Jesus' time understood this. Matthew 2:6 (ESV) " 'And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.' " Also Isaiah: Isaiah 7:14 (ESV) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. This coincides with: Matthew 1:22-23 (ESV) All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: [23] "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel" (which means, God with us). Someone else will have to answer about the wisemen. Steve |
