Bible Question: Is their any person that has ever lived, (other than Jesus) who we could say has been 100 percent accurate in his or her interpretation of Scripture. |
Bible Answer: New Creature I would guess it depends on how you look at it. Jesus was reading from the Septuagint and since He never said “by the way you interpreted this wrong here”. I guess we have to conclude the writers got it right. However the students of the Septuagint, the Pharisees and Scribes apparent didn’t interpret what they read right since Jesus often showed them their error. I think what this proves is God has divinely protected and preserved His word however He allows man free will to interpret that absolutely correct rendition of it. As we see in Acts chapters 1, 2, 6, 11, 13, 15 and in the first through about the fifth century church, men charged with interpretation of the word must come together in prayer, fasting and supplication and under the leading of the Holy Spirit find God’s will for the church. Unfortunately today every man claims the right to interpret for himself scripture as he sees fit, and many times this is done to his destruction. While most all claim to have the leading of the Holy Spirit I think the fact most disagree with each other proves few if any are lead of the Holy Spirit. EdB |
