Bible Question:
AMOS 5:4-5 This is what the Lord says to the house of Israel."Seek me and live,do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal,do not journey to Beersheba" What is the message? Can anyone enlighten me! With Love in Christ FytRobert |
Bible Answer: Additional notes to my brother's excellent response ... Bethel and Dan were wrong alternate places of worship (1 Kin 12:25-33) ... tho it was a place where Jacob met God (Gen 28:11-19, 35:1-7). Gilgal was where Israel's entered into Canaan (Jos 5:1-12). - Beersheba had strong connections with thier fathers: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Gen 21:22-34, 22:19, 26:32-33, 28:10). These were places of empty and vain worship. There is more on these places in Amos |
