Bible Question: I was wondering if the bible said anything about an older girl dating an older guy or if it just society who has made it feel sinful, and if so why? Also the age difference is 4 years, the girl who would be me in this case is 18 and the boy is 14. Not that we are dating, because I don't know the answer yet, and I wanted to sonsult with the bible first adn see if anything was wrong. |
Bible Answer: Hi reloti! There is nothing in the Bible that speaks of age restrictions that I am aware of, yet I would suggest that at this point in time, according to Amos 3:3 the age difference does matter. If we define sinful as anything that is contrary to God's will, this MAY fall into that category. I'm not going to go out on a legalistic limb here though. A young man of 24 and a young woman of 28 have MUCH MORE in common than a young woman at 18 and a boy of 14. You will have more fun being with people who are experiencing the same things that you are. At 18 you are probably getting ready to leave High School and think about college or a career field. A boy of 14 has several years of schooling left to complete and all that accompany the high school experience. My suggestion is to put this relationship on hold for about 10 years. If it is meant to be, it will be. I am glad to see that you are interested in honoring what God's Word has to say! I hope that you will evaluate every decision in this way first. May God bless your life, Mommapbs |
