Bible Question: I know titheing is 10percent of your income. But what is the firstfruits of your income and how much would that be. If you give your tithes which is 10percent of your income, before taxes and that is the first thing we do. so then what will the firstfruits be? |
Bible Answer: Hi Remember these people were farmers and they raised crops. Firstfruits were the first crops they picked. They took a sampling of the crops to offer as a sacrifice. I once planted a nectarine tree. The first fruits the tree produced I prayed over and allowed to remain on the tree. I really wanted to pick one and taste the fruit but I resisted. God blessed that tree every year it produced more than we could ever eat and the fruit was so sweet and juicy you almost overdosed on it. In fact many times bees would feast on fallen fruit and we would see them wobbling around like drunk. The tree lived about 25 years, which is longer than usual for this type of fruit tree. When I cut it down a new nectarine tree sprouted from the spot. I think this year will be its first fruits. I told you all of this not to set a doctrine on how to plant trees to receive maximum yield but rather as a reminder to all that if we put God first He will reward us. EdB |
