Bible Note: Justme: I agree with you: "there are certain things that cost the same no matter where you live." It is a myth that elsewhere in the world food and other goods are generally cheaper than they are in the USA. For example, in 1972 a gallon of gas in western Europe cost two dollars and fifty cents (if I remember correctly). At that time gas in the USA was 50 cents a gallon (again, if I remember correctly). People in third-world nations who get by on 25 to 50 cents an hour are living below a standard that would've been unacceptable here 100 years ago. They may "live" on those wages, but then the question is: define "live". And by the way, my first new car was a 1969 Chevrolet that cost 2,575 dollars. Grace to you, Kalos |
