AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 20:6 on that day I swore to them to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had selected for them, [plentiful and] flowing with milk and honey, [a land] which is an ornament and a glory to all lands. |
Bible Question:
Does the word "glory" only attribute to material provision since the Canaanites and the people in the area were idol worshippers and practiced all kinds of wickedness thus God had asked the Israelite to destroy them and not to follow their deeds in the time of Joshua's. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |
Bible Answer: Hello Azure, The Hebrew word for 'glory' is tsabiy which carries forth the sense of prominence. It's basic meaning is beauty, glory, honor. The ESV reads, "the most glorious of all lands." Of this, the Commentary Critical says, "glory of all lands— that is, Canaan was “the beauty of all lands”; the most lovely and delightful land; “milk and honey” are not the antecedents to “which."
