Bible Note: Sandra, 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22 (NASB) 20 do not despise prophetic utterances. 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every form of evil. Perhaps there is a lack of faith or perhaps they examined everything that was said by you and found it did not line up with scripture? Who can say but those to whom you spoke? There are many false prophets in the world and it is wise for a brother or sister to give great consideration for anything one claiming the gift of prophesy has to say. Let me say this so there is no misunderstanding. I’m not accusing you of anything :-) but you have given no details (and I’m not asking for any) and all we know is you claim to have prophesied and others did not believe you. Scripture teaches that prophesying is for the edification and building up of the church 1 Corinthians 14:3, 12, 26. If you have the gift and you expect the brothers and sisters to accept what you speak, you will need to ensure you are biblical or without question no one will take you serious. Steve |
