Bible Question: In prayer tonight I heard the phrase "shut up in my bones," I read Jer 20:9, what does it mean? |
Bible Answer: Hello Sandra, Here is the verse: "Jer 20:9- But if I say, "I will not remember Him Or speak anymore in His name," Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding it in, And I cannot endure it."(NASB) Without any context, I cannot tell you what this phrase means! You were in prayer, so was this a supposed response to your prayer? Was this an audible voice?, the voice of God?, or spoken in a tongue? Who said this phrase and how was said? I know this, God is not the author of confusion, and He does not speak to us in mystical phrases or incantations. His Word does speak to us as in Heb. 4:12: "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart" Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
