NASB | Jeremiah 2:8 "The priests did not say, 'Where is the LORD?' And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me, And the prophets prophesied by Baal And walked after things that did not profit. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 2:8 "[Even] the priests did not say, 'Where is the LORD?' And those who deal with the law [given to Moses] did not know Me. The rulers and shepherds also transgressed against Me, And the prophets prophesied by [the authority and in the name of] Baal And walked after [idolatrous] things that did not benefit [them]. |
Subject: Why didn't the priests tell the people? |
Bible Note: Yes, it is both a conceivable and Biblical conclusion that the priests and rulers of the people will incur a stricter punishment, since verses such as James 3:1, Matt. 23:8, Romans 2:20 and 1 Timothy 1:7 all pertain to teachers, and that teachers are responsible for the guidance of the spiritual maturation of the students underneath them. (And the Holy Spirit does the rest!) Blessings, Nolan |
