NASB | Jeremiah 2:8 "The priests did not say, 'Where is the LORD?' And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me, And the prophets prophesied by Baal And walked after things that did not profit. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 2:8 "[Even] the priests did not say, 'Where is the LORD?' And those who deal with the law [given to Moses] did not know Me. The rulers and shepherds also transgressed against Me, And the prophets prophesied by [the authority and in the name of] Baal And walked after [idolatrous] things that did not benefit [them]. |
Bible Question: If the preists didn't ask, 'Where is the LORD?' why didn't they tell the people when they asked (vs 6)? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Steve! The priests should be no more exempt in punishment than the people, since the priests are their 'spiritual leaders' and they led the way to apostasy. The rulers did just as well. "And walked after things that did not profit."- Says a whole lot! Blessings, Nolan |
