Bible Question:  I'm interested in the phrase "ravished my heart" ([n]kjv) or "made [my] heart beat faster" (nasb). It appears that the phrase is derived from the word 'labab' (H3823a). A modern understanding of 'ravished' could imply a violent reaction of some type and the concept of 'beats faster' might reinforce that. But the BDBG lexicon includes in 'labab' phrases such as:

-quote-
become intelligent
get a mind
to take heart (and)
become enheartened
-end-

There is also a correlation to baking.

Any enlightenment?

Bible Answer:  Greetings dmont,

A song, a poem to the beauty that has captivated him.
Remember your first love, when you thought about your love, how you felt as though your body could not contain you? Your very being was about to jump right out of your body? Your thoughts where of nothing else? You where stripped of all else, your heart was ravished. Stripped of all conscience, wisdom, understanding and logic. All that mattered was that you were with them.
To his wife he says, "My love, you look ravishing!" Be it not for his marriage he would commit sin because of the lust in his heart toward his wife. But now the marriage bed is undefiled. And my lust is no longer lust, but burning desire to be with my wife for she has taken my heart and I willingly gave it. She has captivated me and I am her prisoner. Twice spoken, thou hast ravished my heart, thou hast ravished my heart(Song 4:9). And with an exotic tone, I will say it, "Thou hast ravished my heart."
So as the church is to Christ, His creation has ravished His heart and what better betrothal gift could He give His new bride but Himself.

No supportive scriptures, just experience.
