Bible Question (short): "You have ravished my heart..." |
Question (full): I'm interested in the phrase "ravished my heart" ([n]kjv) or "made [my] heart beat faster" (nasb). It appears that the phrase is derived from the word 'labab' (H3823a). A modern understanding of 'ravished' could imply a violent reaction of some type and the concept of 'beats faster' might reinforce that. But the BDBG lexicon includes in 'labab' phrases such as: -quote- become intelligent get a mind to take heart (and) become enheartened -end- There is also a correlation to baking. Any enlightenment? dm |
